Deshabandu Tennakoon who was at Galle Face when SLPP goons set upon Aragalaya activists surrounding Temple Trees on May 09, 2022 was remanded by Colombo Fort Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura yesterday. Tennakoon was remanded until 27 Aug. pending further investigations.
The CID arrested him on Wednesday in connection with investigations into the attack carried out on May 9, 2022.
The CID took him to custody from his Mirihana residence hours after the court rejected an anticipatory bail application filed on behalf of Tennakoon, which sought an order to prevent his arrest.
The bail application, filed by attorneys representing the former IGP, was considered by Colombo Fort Magistrate Nilupuli Lankapura.
