The Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) will be abolished in the future, as outlined in the manifesto of the National People’s Power, which envisions “a prosperous country and a beautiful life,” Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya said.
She made these remarks yesterday (12), during a public gathering near the Silawathura bus stop in the Musali electoral division of the Mannar District.
The Prime Minister noted that a committee has already been appointed by the Cabinet to oversee the repealing of the PTA, and necessary steps will be taken accordingly.
She further emphasized that under no circumstances will the people be subjected to oppression based on religion or ethnicity, and assured that the government will never approach any crisis with a racist mindset.
